Frequently Asked Questions

Are there benefits for your clients since you don't accept insurance?

YES!

  • Your privacy comes first: When you pay privately, your sessions, notes, and any diagnoses stay between us. Insurance companies require therapists to share this information, which can feel intrusive.

  • Therapy for you—not a label: Many people come to therapy for personal growth, self-exploration, or relationship support—not because they have a mental illness. Private sessions let you focus on what matters to you, without needing a diagnosis to “qualify.”

  • Flexible, personalized care: Without insurance rules, I can tailor therapy to fit your unique needs. We aren’t bound by rigid treatment plans, so we can focus on what truly works for you.

  • Access to a wider range of support: Some services, like couples therapy, parent training, or group sessions, often aren’t covered by insurance—but they can be part of your journey when you work privately.

Who can benefit from counseling?
What is your counseling approach?
How can I schedule an appointment?
What are your office hours?

I take a holistic approach to counseling, believing that true well-being comes from caring for both mind and body. Eating well, exercising, healthy sleep, and social connection are just as important as mindfulness and traditional therapy techniques. In our work together, I use evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while focusing on building resilience—helping you strengthen inner qualities like compassion, mindfulness, grit, and gratitude. Together, we’ll work to uncover your strengths, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful change that supports your overall well-being. My goal is to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow.

I currently see clients on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Counseling can benefit anyone who is ready to engage and do the work, both in and outside of sessions. If you’re willing to explore, reflect, and take steps toward change, counseling can support you every step of the way.

What can I expect in my first session?

It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous before your first counseling session—many people do. During our time together, we’ll start by reviewing policies and procedures and going over some of the information from your intake forms. From there, we’ll talk about your background, explore your goals for counseling, and begin building a foundation of trust.

Trust between client and counselor is essential. When we have that trust, it creates a safe and supportive space where real progress can happen.

Do you offer online/telehealth sessions?

Yes, I do offer online sessions for your convenience. However, whenever possible, I prefer to meet in person for the very first session so we can get to know each other and establish a strong foundation.

There are also times when online sessions may not be the best fit—such as with certain ages or for specific types of counseling that benefit more from face-to-face interaction. If that’s the case, we’ll discuss it together and decide what approach will best support your needs.

How long will I need to be in counseling?

Counseling isn’t meant to last forever. The length of time you spend in counseling really depends on your unique goals, the type of treatment we’re working on, and the effort you’re able to put in both during and outside of our sessions. Some people find that just a few sessions help them gain clarity, while others benefit from longer-term support. We’ll work together to find the pace and duration that best fits your needs.

What is your cancellation or no-show policy?

I understand that life happens and schedules can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. This allows me to offer the time to another client who may be waiting.

Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, will be charged the full session fee. Thank you for understanding and respecting this policy—it helps keep counseling consistent and fair for everyone.
